You can have great publicity,
a super agenda, a beautiful venue and still not attract enough warm
bodies. Though the 2003 Annual Meeting of PMAI Dixie Division,
Inc was held in Biloxi, at the Beau Rivage Resort Hotel was one
of the best ever, attendance was off.
Speaker
Jon Schallert is a specialist in turning stores and entire business
districts into "destinations," and runs the Destination Business
Boot Camp in Florida. He spoke both Saturday and Sunday. click on

Annual meetings focus on educational programs about marketing, customer
service, and better ways to run a profitable photo/imaging industry. Schallert's
emphasis on unique and total customer service touches the primary way that
smaller stores can differentiate themselves. He also gave us plenty of
recommendations for big publicity results from pocket-change expenditures.
Marketing
guru Jim Schwarzbach of Jim's Photo came all the way from El Paso and
thought it well worth the trip, while some actual Dixie Division members
were no-shows. Shown here with old friend and Dixie Division President
Margaret Remy.

In
addition to great workshops presented by both wholesalers and retailers,
fun in the sun is always an important part of getting together with
industry friends. Ray Smith, now retired from Qualex, has been organizing
the golf classic for 38 years. This year the play was at the Presidents'
Country Club course. We had perfect weather.
Next
year's meeting will be held in Asheville, NC, home of the majestic
Biltmore Estate. No, the Vanderbilts haven't invited us to be their
guests, but a tour is on the agenda. June 4 through June 6, 2004
