Idea #1 - B2B - Have Fun, Make Money! Dan Bevis, Third
Power Digital, (www.thirdpowerdigital.com)
Nashville, TN (615) 259-3322 -
We did 4 color, in-house produced comic book services
brochure featuring photos of our employees, along with comic book style
illustration and colors. The brochure was printed on our Xerox 2060 digital
press to showcase our capabilities. The brochure was entered in several print
competitions. It placed 2nd in Hammermill's national color copy contest and
received a Xerox print innovation award at PRINT01. Best results 1.) Customers
really enjoyed seeing our employees' photos in the brochure...put a face with
a name, etc. 2.) Employees felt sense of ownership.
McCurry's note: You can see a sample of their
creativity and off beat yet very effective approach at their website. It is
worth your time to investigate it.
Idea #2 - All Markets - "I am not all things to all
people" Steve Buchbinder, Alkit (www.alkit.com)
New York, NY (212)674-1515 -
There is CVS on one corner and Duane Reade on the other.
They charge everyday $5.99 and $6.99 for Develop and Print. I charge $14 for a
36 exposure D&P (second set is free only if you paid to be in our loyalty
club). We ask people if they want their film processed in the Frontier for
only $3 more. We are so busy with two Frontiers that we have to shut off one
hour service promises on some days. Deliver a product that the customer can
see the difference and charge for it. Besides, the low price customer is the
one who complains the loudest and is the toughest to please. Stick to knowing
who your customers are, what they want and give it to them at a price you are
proud of.
Idea #3 - All Markets - Keep it consistent and simple -
Mike Woodland, Dan's Camera City (www.danscamera.com)
Allentown, PA (610) 434-2313, x341 -
Mike wants his customers to feel comfortable, thus
through out the digital printing section of Dan's Camera City website you will
see the same person, Julie, guiding you through the steps to order. You will
also see the same graphics, layout, terminology and prices on Dan's analog and
digital processing in store, on the web, via kiosk, uploaded through Graphx,
printed on a Photogenix or a Lucidom kiosk. Mike believes this consistency is
important in Keeping Things Simple for his customers. Mike would appreciate
your comments on their new website design for uploading digital images. Please
look at their site and send your comments to Mike directly at mwoodland@danscamera.com
or you can hit reply to this newsletter and we'll forward your comments onto
Mike. Now's your chance to state your opinion and recommendations. Please, do
it today!
