MMIE #333 - McCurry wants to work with you in Anaheim
  February 11, 2010

  Hello -

We're getting down to the wire, and if you're not planning to travel to Anaheim for the DIMA, PMA and other conferences - maybe you should reconsider.

Right now there are some phenomenal last minute airline fares available.

If you are planning, here's a couple of tips for getting the most out of the convention:

Idea # 1 - Share ideas with McCurry at D-42

At Bill's Marketing Idea Exchange 8 years ago, a tradition was born. That tradition led, among other things, to this newsletter that has now published more than 300 unique issues.

Session D-42 - the DIMA Marketing Idea Exchange.

From big marketing concepts to little promotional gems, the DIMA Marketing Idea Exchange is guaranteed to provide at least three actionable ideas to implement immediately into your marketing plan. If you've never been to the DIMA Marketing Idea Exchange, come see why this DIMA tradition is considered the most cutting-edge marketing hour you will have . . . It s a tradition that is 100 percent new every session with the latest, freshest, and hottest moneymaking concepts in imaging.

Saturday, February 20, 1 pm

Idea #2 - On the last day of the show

PMA 2010 Retailer Hot Picks

Even before the doors open, our amateur spies will be checking out what's new and what's hot. We know that you'll be doing the same.

But finding the most exciting new products at PMA 2010 - the ones that will give you the best chance to put money in your pocket - can be a big task. Let our retailers and buying groups tell what they think will be the hot sellers this year.

In one hour you'll hear 25 of the best ideas on the trade show floor from experienced retailers. They'll uncover more on the floor for your success than you can in a full day. Did you see Fuji's 3D at last year's PMA? Most attendees missed it . . . but not if you were at last year's Hot Picks. It's Tuesday at 10:30 on the trade show floor. That gives you time after Hot Picks to go out to the respective booths and see the actual product you found out about.

Idea 3 - Helpful hints for the convention and conferences

3 airports serve Anaheim, and it's an expensive cab ride from any of the airports to the convention hotels. PMA has arranged discount coupons for shuttle services that will make your trip easier. Shuttle Discount Information.

Follow Me is the official iPhone/iPod Touch application for the PMA 2010 Show, February 19-23, 2010, in Anaheim, CA. Know where you are on the show floor and navigate like a pro with our interactive maps, search the exhibitor directory, or create your show schedule by choosing sessions you want to attend and speakers you want to hear. Download it

More top choice sessions

Sunday, February 21 - 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. - Great brains assembled in the General Session panel, definitely worth hearing - and you don't need to buy a ticket . . .

  • Gabe Cano, Specialty Services Custom Photo Lab
  • David Guidry, Lakeside Camera Photoworks
  • Richard Moross, MOO
  • Gaby Mullinax, Fullerton Photographics
  • Brad Jefferson, Animoto
  • Robert L. Hanson, Harold's Photo Center
Get there on time (or early?) to get a seat . . .

at 9:00 sharp they award the Distinguished Service Award which has special meaning for many this year. If you have any interest in framing, one of the awardees is Vivian Kistler who unfortunately lost her battle with cancer last month. She was a strong advocate of PPFA and always with a smile helped many of us who didn't know a framing nail from a hang nail.

Other awardees are leading photo retailers who gave unselfishly of their time and energies to help their fellow dealers.

  • Brian Noble of Massachusetts
  • Don Spring of Ontario
  • Richard "Robbo" Robertson of Australia. (yes, Robbo is so 'bigger than life' he's from a whole country while the others are from a single state/province.)
Beside the panel, it will be worth your time to hear what these three leaders share at the microphone. Entertaining and educational.

Tuesday, February 23 - 8:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. - Building Your Business with Social Media with Guy Kawasaki - Ever heard him speak? If you have, you'll be in the audience for this one . . . no tickets needed for this event either . . . Plus, again if you get there on time you'll see frequent Idea Exchange contributor Alan Logue of Hutt Street Photo Adelaide, Australia receive the well deserved International Territorial Vice President of the Year award. Margaret Remy will receive the USA TVP of the Year.
