We Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends . . . Its a changing world . . . and breaking new ground in this changing world . . . PMA has made Digital Guerrilla Marketing available on line . . . at Barnes & Noble (www.bn.com) If this book has helped you and youd like to share your insights with prospective buyers of the book, please feel free to post your (favorable?) comments. Idea #1 Martha D. Locke, Zeff Photo Supply, Belmont, MA www.zeffphoto.com About two months we started making name tags mandatory for all sales people. I was wonderfully surprised by how excited everyone got about creating their own idea - - - Personalized Name Tags We at Zeff Photo have asked our sales staff to create there own name tags. We set basic guidelines for them. The most important being that the name is easy to read and that they are all a uniform size. We've encouraged our employees to do something visually interesting and personal one their tags, such as pictures of their children, themselves as a child, or one of their favorite photos We've encouraged our employees to do something visually interesting and personal on their tags. This allows our staff to express their individuality and have fun while still being easy to recognize by our customers. Our sales staff must wear them everyday, but can change them as often as they wish.
Idea #2 Free is the most powerful marketing word (round 2) Frank Lucido Greens Camera World, Salinas, CA We recently started offering customers who are purchasing a digital camera ten free prints up to 5x7 with camera purchase. After they receive a presentation on our Noritsu CT-1 self service media print station they receive a punch-out card. Customers love it and the repeat business is growing daily. The unit is programmed to request payment in advance. Idea #3 - Interesting front windows Share the fun Jean-Charles Savard - Photo Service - Old-Montreal, QC - (www.photoservice.ca) We are located in a place where tourist, local resident and office workers are walking in the area every day. A few months ago, we have posted in our front windows posters showing this history of cameras. We have for example, a poster of Hasselblad, Nikon, Canon and Minolta where you can see all their camera lines since their inception. Its amazing how many people stop to read these posters and talk in front of our windows. They are discussing about who has that or that camera, etc. We haven't yet measure precisely if it helps potential customer to enter our store immediately after watching the posters... But one thing is for sure, to see the pleasure and the interest the people are getting from these posters, it's certainly a good way to let them know that we are the real pro camera store in our city. Idea # 4 - Partnership with restaurant for fun! Jean-Charles Savard - Photo Service - Old-Montreal, QC - (www.photoservice.ca) One of my reps has submitted to us an interesting idea that needs to be considered. We are thinking to make a cross promotion with restaurants in our area. We are presently looking for restaurant that could be interested to have a point and shoot camera with flash (borrowed from us) with free film (8 exposures 200 ISO Kodak commercial film). What a crazy idea you think?....Let me explain. For the restaurant, the idea is to help their clients remember the experience that they have lived in the restaurant for a special occasion. For example, the waiter could suggest to clients to give them the opportunity to takes photos of their group... and for $3.99, their client can go to our lab to have the photo printed. The waiter gets $2.50 every time we receive the film at our lab. There are several adjustments that could be made to this promotion to fit your needs but I think this is a good idea to help new people to enter our store and appreciate our quality and probably ... make reprints and enlargements. Upcoming Imaging Industry Speaking Events with Bill McCurry We hope to see you there . . .
