First Year Milestones well worth documentingSleeping like an angel – During its first month of life your baby will sleep close to 12 hours a day and only wake for feedings. Take advantage of what may be the quietest time of their life (and yours) to capture some of these times. Write down what you think they’re dreaming and include that with the photos in their scrapbook. Color, sounds and smiles – As they grow, babies connect their moods and preferences with smiles and start to recognize you. Colored objects get their attention and make for interesting photos. You can also stir up a smile with your voice or funny sounds. Movements, big and small – After a few months in this world, babies begin to roll themselves over, some sit up, they begin to laugh and turn their heads when they hear voices. Feeding frenzy – Funny full mouths and “fed” clothes will surely capture baby’s first bite of solid food six months into their life. First words – Here’s where you can include photographs of your baby chatting away as well as writing down the words, scrapbook-style, so they can both see and read their first “speech.” Mobility! – In months eight and nine, infants start to move around quite a lot, get more adventurous, grabbing toys or anything in their crawling path. Snap pictures of where their crawl starts and where in the room they end up, in your own version of the baby “decathlon.” Independence and story time – At close to a year, your child’s curiosity truly kicks in. They begin to feed themselves, respond to shapes, colors, sounds, and listen as you read storybooks. |
